 Clare and I have, occasionally, taken groups to Israel, Italy, Argentina, and elsewhere.  One group, personally special to us, consisted of a number of my U.S. Naval Academy classmates and their wives on a Columbia River cruise.  The river cruise was ideal for us, as it really gave us time to reconnect and renew old friendships.   Through Clare’s arrangement with the cruise ship, we had special accommodations during excursions, a Happy Hour every afternoon, and a private salon for us to get together for various activities.  This included presentations by several classmates who had unique experiences or accomplishments in life.  For example, my classmate on the left is the youngest astronaut to walk on the moon and, on the far right, a classmate who is known as the “Father of GPS” (Global Positioning System). It was a grand experience for me and for Clare, who has known most of the other wives since graduating from Annapolis.

Lisa and I have traveled extensively in the US & Europe and, with that said, the difference in a trip you take vs. an adventure that you relish is, Clare Isquith. Lisa mentioned to Clare that we were considering going to Argentina for a food and wine excursion as research for Lisa's fourth restaurant here in Sedona, named Mariposa Grill. Our goal was for Lisa to have an intimate culinary experience with chefs, new vintners and the diversity of the culture. The challenge was that we wanted to go in February 2014, expanding our trip to include Uruguay and Peru, but decided to do this in November 2013, leaving Clare only a couple of months to plan our trip when it would normally take far longer to make all the arrangements. Long story short - what she delivered was not just an adventure but a detailed itinerary, locations, guides and drivers that really worked for us. We are fiercely independent and this package was amazing. Only experience and team work would allow someone to put this type of package together and confirm it in such a short period of time. It gets better: a month before we were to depart, we had to change the departure for two weeks later; plus, we cancelled Peru and substituted Chile. With grace, style and patience she repackaged our adventure - 21 days of exploration, bliss, joy, cuisine and new wines. Our guides have now become our friends and we have returned with a cache of photography and video that has already inspired Lisa's next cookbook - "A Romance with Food." From our personal experience, Clare was as much a part of our journey as the actual adventure. We couldn't help but smile and remark to ourselves, "How did she know to have this in place, here?"

"How could it be, other than totally thrilling, to be standing at the "Ends of the Earth"! Here we are, at the southern most post office in South America, at the Beagle Canal (made famous by Charles Darwin), Ushuaia, Argentina, with the beauty of Patagonia in the background. "What a fantastic trip to Belize that Clare arranged for us.  The Blancaneaux Lodge in the Pine Forrest was wonderful.  All of the staff was so personable and attentive  I don't think we have ever had such good service.  By the time we had to leave, I felt like we were leaving a group of good friends.  We hiked to Big Rock Falls from the lodge.  We had one of our dinners in the garden where our feast was plucked from the massive garden as we took a tour before the chef got busy preparing the vegetables we had gathered.  A full day trip to Tikal ruins in Guatemala was unbelievable!  There are just as many ruins that have yet to be excavated as there are uncovered.  What a wonderfully rich experience with the best tour guides."
